Is the Zyoptix™ personalized laser vision correction system new?
No. The Zyoptix™ system has a proven track record, having been used in over 100,000 worldwide procedures over a period of 2 years.
What’s the difference between Zyoptix™ personalized laser vision correction system for myopia and LASIK?
While non-customized LASIK has been a popular, virtually painless and effective means of vision correction, it does not correct for individual flaws and irregularities of the eye. The Zyoptix™ personalized vision correction system from Bausch & Lomb has the capability of providing customized laser treatment that is unique to each eye.
Is it possible for someone who wears eyeglasses to see 20/20 or better after surgery?
Yes, in fact the analysis of data from a U.S. clinical trial of 340 total eyes treated and based on refractive data at 6 month follow-up examination, found that 91.5% were corrected to 20/20 or better visual acuity without spectacles or contact lenses.
How will I know if I am a good candidate for the Zyoptix™ personalized laser vision correction system?
You may be a good candidate if you:
Have had stable vision for the past year.
Have healthy eyes, good general health and are not taking medication that affects the healing process.
Are age 18 or over.
Feel glasses/contact lenses are a nuisance.
Please note that only Dr. Starck can determine if you are a suitable candidate for the Zyoptix™ procedure based on appropriate diagnostic tests and medical history.
Does the procedure hurt?
No. The Zyoptix™ procedure is designed to be virutally painless with minimum discomfort. The actual laser procedure itself can be performed in a matter of minutes.
How quickly will my eyes recover?
You should be able to see better 1-2 hours after the treatment, but you'll notice the dramatic difference when you wake up the next day. Most people get back to normal routine quickly - even going back to work the next day. You may need to avoid contact sports and swimming for 2-3 weeks. Dr. Starck will advise you what is suitable for your individual needs.
What kind of vision impairment will the Zyoptix™ procedure correct?
Most people who are myopic (nearsighted) can be helped by the Bausch & Lomb Zyoptix™ system. The Zyoptix™ procedure can even correct astigmatism.
Will I ever require glasses after my Zyoptix™ procedure?
Patients who suffer from presbyopia (mostly people aged 40 and over) may still require reading glasses to distinguish small, close-up objects after their Zyoptix™ procedure.
