About Dr. Sepulveda

Born in Illinois and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, where his family still resides, Ricardo N. Sepulveda, MD is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist at UltraVision in San Antonio and Eagle Pass, Texas. With over 17 years of experience, Dr. Sepulveda specializes in the treatment of glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, blindness, eye pain, and other vision issues, as well as vision correction surgery.

After graduating from the University of Monterrey Medical School in Mexico, Dr. Sepulveda moved to Houston to train as a research fellow in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Houston’s College of Optometry. He went on to complete an internship in general surgery at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. From there, he completed a residency in ophthalmology at the New York College of Medicine-St. Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan, where he also served as chief resident.

Dr. Sepulveda was then admitted to the Cleveland Clinic-Cole Eye Institute to pursue a fellowship in anterior segment diseases, cornea and refractive surgery under the guidance of Dr. Steve Wilson and Dr. Ron Krueger.

Upon completion of this fellowship in 2009, Dr. Sepulveda was invited to work alongside his friend and mentor, Dr. Charles A. Garcia, in Houston. In 2012, after three years in private practice, he decided to complete another fellowship in surgical retina repair under Dr. Garcia’s supervision. During his time in Houston, Dr. Sepulveda worked with many international medical students from multiple medical schools in Mexico.

Dr. Sepulveda has published several book chapters in internationally known medical textbooks, authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, and presented at many ophthalmology meetings both locally and internationally. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
