A recognized leader in cornea and refractive surgery, Tomy Starck, MD is also a renowned author and speaker, as well as the director of UltraVision in San Antonio and Eagle Pass, Texas. After completing his undergraduate education and medical degree at the University of Valle in Colombia, Dr. Starck was awarded a scholarship at the world-renowned Barraquer Clinic, a refractive surgery center in Bogota, where he completed his ophthalmology residency training under the direction of Dr. Jose Barraquer, known as the "father of refractive surgery.”

Dr. Starck continued his training in the United States, first as a cornea fellow at the Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary-Harvard Medical School in Boston, followed by three additional years as a resident in ophthalmology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio (UTHSCSA). He has been on the faculty of UTHSCSA since 1994 and is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

A prolific medical author, Dr. Starck has authored more than 25 articles in peer-reviewed journals, many textbook chapters, and more than 85 presentations both in the US and internationally. He received the 1999 Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology for his scientific contributions to the ophthalmology field.
